Thank You for Winter

Thank you, God, for winter

When I don’t have to drive in it

Or shovel snow

Or walk across an icy parking lot

Or lean against biting, sub-zero winds.

Oh don’t get me wrong.

I understand winter is necessary.

Needed.

Inevitable.

I love winter, I do —

From inside my house

Next to my fire

Holding a cup of hot chocolate

And dreaming of spring.

Amen.
