A Simple Prayer

Dear God, I come to you today

And ask a simple thing of you.

I’m not sure, but is that okay?

I know you have so much to do.

Should I kneel and fold my hands,

Or is thinking also called a prayer?

So, from what I understand

I just have to reach out and you’re there.

May as well do this properly.

Hands are folded, I’m kneeling down.

I feel a bit silly, truthfully,

But that’s okay. There’s no one around.

So, dear God, here’s my simple prayer.

Please turn on ancestral memory.

You don’t have to invent it, it’s already there.

And once you do, everyone will see

That we are (truly) one big family.

Amen
