“Nobody has to do anything wrong to end up living a life that feels like it’s not their own, all they have to do is take a step back, and hope for the best.”

We’ve been helping a young man named Oscar in Portland who lost his job two years ago. Then, when the pandemic hit, he lost his apartment. He has been living on the street ever since. Blessings of Christmas to you if you celebrate, and blessings of peace, either way, if you don’t.  This night always felt so magical to me, as a child.  I’ve since learned that Jesus was probably born in the Spring, but I still like to sing the song I learned about his birth every Christmas Eve.

Hush my heart, behold the wonder/ Lying there in yonder stall./ Son of God, the great Creator,/ He before whom angels fall, the Lord of all./ Once he hung the stars in Heaven,/ Sent the planets on their way,/ Now he stoops to this poor manger/ Sleeps a babe on the stable hay./ Who could tell the depths of mercy?/ Who could know a love so true?/ Who the boundless grace could measure/ That his coming brings to view?/ Hush my heart and bow in worship/ At his lowly cradle there,/ Knowing that he came to save us/ Came to earth our sins to bear.”  (A Christmas solo I sang when I was 19 for a church concert. I’m sorry I don’t know the name, but if you do, I’d love to know.)

Wherever you are today, may you find shelter, warmth and peace, and may you know, always, how much you are loved.  ∞♥∞
