“The rain has stopped at last.  We are soaked to the skin and, when we’re not moving and climbing, we shiver a lot.  We’re trying to keep Mr. Frodo as warm and as sheltered from the rain as possible. Strider scouted ahead this morning, so we started out late today.  We’ve turned southeast now and it was hard going over rocky ground.  We only went a handful of miles before we climbed up to this high ridge.  It’s a fair view no mistake but so cold! We’ve had to risk building a fire or no one could sleep. There’s a gnarled pine above us like a silent old guard.”
