On September 27, 3018, the company of hobbits rested all day with Tom and Goldberry Bombadil.

DAY 5 – SEPT. 27TH – 27 MILES

Here below are the notes* Sam took along the way as well as a few jotted sketches. In later years, Sam’s daughter Elanor used Sam’s rough sketches to create paintings to accompany the three Books.  (Based one The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien and The Atlas of Middle Earth by Karen Fonstad and The Eowyn Challenge website.)

“We’re at Tom and Goldberry’s house still. It’s raining hard. Mr. Frodo says we should rest here all day and start again fresh in the morning. The rain should clear by tomorrow. I’m happy to do it. The vittles are good, the fire is warm and the company is as fine as you could want.”
