My dear Uncle Joe died last Thursday evening. He was like my big brother/dad growing up. He lived with us and visited when he was on furlough from the Navy.

Last month, I learned that one of the best friends of my lifetime, and one of the two people to whom Her Angel is dedicated (the other is his daughter, Rachel), died unexpectedly. His loss hit hard.

My heart is broken, not just for myself but for my mom, who lost her last sibling and little brother, and for Rachel, who lost her father and best friend. I cannot imagine life without these two beautiful men in my life.
