Gems 11.65

I hope you’re having a beautiful day. ♡
Here’s another light-filled ¤ Gem ¤

“The way I felt about things was a result of the way I habitually chose to feel about such things. That is why getting into the habit of being grateful (no matter what happens) is so powerful.”
-W. Clifford Dean, from Every Moment, Gratitude

A note from me to Cliff, January 25, 2012, the day I got the idea for this website.

Cliff died on October 20, 2025. He was 73. I learned the news in an email from his wife on Saturday, November 1st. Cliff was my mentor and friend, a huge light and joy in my life from the moment we “met” on a fitness and health website run by Bill Phillips. My heart is broken. My heart is with his beautiful family. Cliff is irreplaceable. His death was sudden and completely unexpected.

Cliff was an author, poet, dad, actor, photographer, sculptor, and (despite the deep losses in his life, including his only daughter) one of the most joyful people I have ever had the privilege of calling my friend. This week, I’ll share excerpts from a letter Cliff wrote to me (Every Moment, Gratitude) in 2017 when I was struggling with scary health issues and family losses, as he had. The letter describes how he used gratitude to bring joy back after so much illness and grief. I’ve never read a more beautiful letter in my life.

My heart feels shattered right now, but Cliff would tell me to be grateful for everything, no matter what. I am beyond grateful that he was in my life, and I always will be.

  1. I’m sorry to hear about Cliff and I know he was really a true friend. My heart breaks knowing he’s gone, but rejoices that he’s transcended this existence to be a light in the next one. My condolences to all. He was truly one of a kind.

  2. I will put this comment on every post this week. I’m hosting a new 21-Day challenge on Kindspring in loving memory of Cliff: Every Moment Gratitude 2026. It begins the first week of January. (Right now it’s set for New Year’s Eve since that’s as far as the mechanic for the challenges allows at the moment. I’ll update it soon.) All welcome.
