Daisy, give yourself away
Look up at the rain
The beautiful display
Of power and surrender
Giving us today, and
She gives herself away

-Jon Foreman

I realize I used this photo two years ago, but this is my favorite daisy photo of all time (so far).  I added the stars.

I remember when daisies grew by the railroad tracks in our small New Jersey town every June.  But now they bloom in November in another town only 40 miles south under my pear tree (Wish).

We’ve been having a great discussion on the KindSpring.org KarunaVirus Challenge about having a heart of service.  It seems we agree: helping others feel happy, safe, joyful, well and loved is #1.  Since I can remember, I’ve felt this way. Now I have an entire tribe who feels this way.

Music heals so I’m adding music.  Some of my favorite blogs add music (Ivor).  Today I couldn’t decide between these two Sting songs.  Then I realized I could add both. It’s not like there are WordPress Police watching every move I make.

If we listen to each other’s heart
We’ll find we’re never too far apart
And maybe love is a reason why
For the first time ever, we’re seein’ it eye to eye

“I2I” performed by DCapella; songwriters Patrick DeRemer and Roy Freeland

I2I

Performed by DCappella

Yeah, yeah
Hey, yeah

Got myself a notion
And one I know that you’ll understand
To set the world in motion
By reaching out for each other’s hand
Maybe we’ll discover
What we shoulda known all along, yeah

One way or another, together’s where we both belong
If we listen to each other’s heart (oh yeah)
We’ll find we’re never too far apart
And maybe love is a reason why
For the first time ever, we’re seein’ it eye to eye

If a wall should come between us
Too high to climb, too hard to break through
I know that love’ll lead us
And find a way to bring me to you

So don’t be in a hurry
Think before you count us out, oh
You don’t have to worry
I won’t ever let you drown
(Nothing’s gonna stop us now)

If we listen to each other’s heart
We’ll find we’re never too far apart
And maybe love is a reason why
For the first time ever, we’re seein’ it eye to eye

Love is why we’re seein’ it eye to eye
(Yes, we are seein’) eye to eye we’re seein’ it
Seein’ it eye to eye
(Love is why we’re seein’ it eye to eye)
We’re seein’ it eye to eye
(Eye to eye we’re seein’ it
We’re seein’ it eye to eye
Love is why we’re seein’ it eye to eye
(Eye to eye, yeah) eye to eye we’re seein’ it
Eye to eye

If you’re ever lonely, then stop
You don’t have to be
After all, it’s only a beat away from you to me
(Take a look inside and see)

Yeah, if we listen to each other’s heart
We’ll find we’re never too far apart
And maybe love is a reason why
For the first time ever, we’re seein’ it eye to eye

Seein’ it eye to eye
Seein’ it eye to eye
Eye to eye
For the first time
For the first time (seein’ it eye to eye)
Eye to eye
Seein’ it
Seein’ it, baby
Seein’ it eye to eye
Yeah for the first time ever (eye to eye)
Hey yeah
Seein’ it, baby
We’re seein’ it eye to eye (eye to eye)
Yeah, seein’ it
C’mon, baby (seein’ it eye to eye)
Eye to eye, eye to eye, eye to eye, eye to eye
Eye to eye, eye to eye (yeah)
Eye to eye

“I used to read five psalms every day – that teaches me how to get along with God. Then I read a chapter of Proverbs every day and that teaches me how to get along with my fellow man.” -Billy Graham

Good Friday was always a rough day for me.  The Stations of the Cross were brutal.  I hated to think of anyone going through that ordeal let alone this person I loved beyond measure.

Good Friday got easier. I grew up and learned I could save myself the heartache. It was all just a fairy tale.  We’ll be teaching Christian mythology someday, I told myself.  So I no longer sobbed on Good Friday.   That could only be a good thing.  Yet when I lost my faith, I felt it profoundly.  It felt very cold in the universe without it.  So, I kept searching.

Now the only thing I know with certainty is that I know nothing.  The “through a glass, darkly” is a real thing and it’s not like it’s getting brighter as time goes on.  More the opposite.  Letting go of the need to know has been a saving grace.

So, I return with pleasure to that emotional child’s memories and comfort her. The beauty of this love story is enough, and the mystery of not knowing only enhances it. What is life if not a beautiful mystery? Anything can happen, especially miracles.

If this story is one you love too, you may enjoy Easter Morning, Mary’s Song.  The music won’t be finished in time for Easter again this year (my co-creator is on a walkabout) but I’ll get back to you next year.  There’s that beautiful mystery again.

Next week, I hope to feature more from Cord X and Johnny O.  Cord has shared some gorgeous flowers from San Antonio recently and John is full of plans in Denver. He’s never without a pen and an idea for a poem, a garden, a friend or a city. I can’t wait to share their creations with you.

I hope we have a great weekend. Happy Passover for those celebrating. “Next year in person,” right? I really hope so, for all of us. And whether you celebrate Easter or not, may you feel the miracle, the mystery and the love of this story every single day of your life.
