What Is Equal?
It is non-existent, that is “What it is”.
There is no such thing as equal.
God dealt the cards and one can only
play the hand which they are dealt, regardless
of the obstacles. Fair or unfair.
The biggest “offenders” feel no shame, they know no guilt.
They embrace only their own bigoted double standards.
Asking someone to resolve problems that they not only perpetuate,
but don’t even acknowledge, is a fruitless waste of your precious breath.
You are either of a mind of equality or you are not.
Few are persuaded to do an about face.
Children of all races, creed and colors are not BORN haters.
THEY ARE TAUGHT.
Those thoughts and beliefs of inequity become their values,
No matter how injurious they may be.

Dr. King has been one of my heroes since childhood. In 5th grade, not long after he was killed, my favorite teacher Mrs. Nettie Baker, taught us a song I never forgot. I never heard it since she taught it to us. Perhaps Mrs. Baker wrote it. I looked for it on Google without success.
There was a man, a gentle man.
Who gave up his life for his land.
He reached out his hand
To touch every heart,
For he knew that we’d understand.
This man had a dream that
Some day for all
The bells of freedom would ring.
His dream will become reality,
For his name is Martin Luther King.
