Tonight John will perform again at Tattered Cover Bookstore on Cofax in Denver for “The Story: Open Mic Night.” The event is co-hosted by John and Matt Sallis. John will be sharing a new piece, yet revealed, and an old beloved one: Annual Light. John often writes about light, and his life is the brightest light of all. John wrote “First Light” in May of 2018. He and his community lost another friend. He read this beautiful poem at her memorial. This is one of my favorites.

Join Tattered Cover as we welcome Matt Salis and John Olander, who will be hosting an The Story: An Open Mic Night at our Colfax location on April 28th at 6pm. This event is free to the public and no ticket is required for entry.

ABOUT THE HOSTS

Matt Salis is a writer and researcher working in addiction prevention and recovery, with a specialization in relationships and intimacy. He is the author of the 2020 book, sober evolution, and the co-host and producer of the Unintoxicated Podcast. Matt facilitates The Story Writing Workshops around Denver, where he lives with his wife and four kids.

John Olander is a self described DCCA “Dot Connecting Change Agent”. A Denver Native, he is a Graduate of Denver East High School with a street degree in real estate sales and development. Enjoying his new “Rewirement” and active in the Community, John likes to create and tell stories which are worthy of The Tattered Cover venue and his association with Stigma.org. “None of us knows as much as all of us”. is a favorite quote.
