“The fact is we can only love what we know personally. And we cannot know much. In public affairs, in the rebuilding of civilization, something less dramatic and emotional is needed, namely tolerance.”

-E. M. Forster

Over the past several years, I, like so many of us, have watched the divide between us grow. People I loved stopped speaking to me because I did not vote the way they did. In turn, I began thinking that half of our country had gone insane, leaving the other half to watch helplessly. Maybe, I thought, we’re all mad.

I got answers this weekend, joyful ones. Simple ones. I highly recommend both this TedTalk,

and the interview this past Saturday, both with Joan Blades, founder of

It’s time to rebuild and to reunite.
