“I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you.”

-Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Special thanks to TC. This week and next we’ll be sharing her essays and photos. Here’s Day 4 of 10, (Gems 7.79):

Love that Lasts a Lifetime
We all know couples who have been married for more than 40 or 50 even 60 years. Their lives have been intertwined through the ups and downs of life. They have shared great joys and deep sorrows. When one suffers a failure or success the other feels it keenly. They support the goals and dreams of their partner, never tearing them down, always building them up. They give each other space to be the individual that they are while still maintaining the bonds of a couple. Their love stands the tests of time. They develop a way of communicating that only they understand, a loving touch, a glance or a phrase about their memories of their life together. What is the key is to their long relationship? If we ask them we may be surprised by the answers, words such as trust, faith, respect and compromise are words that are most often used. Their love is an example of the true commitment of two people who took their wedding vows so many years ago. The love between two people that lasts a lifetime and often beyond is to be treasured and celebrated. Please feel free to share, if you are so inspired. Written by TC, Kindspring.org.
